Makakilo Stake Vision
“That we may be one” (D&C 35:2)
"As individuals and families in the Makakilo Hawaii Stake, we strive to be united as one—one in faith, one in purpose, one in heart, and one in Jesus Christ—as we invite all of God’s children, on both sides of the veil, to come unto the Savior, make and keep sacred covenants, find enduring joy, and qualify for eternal life."

Stake Presidency Message
Aloha Brothers and Sisters,
As we welcome the month of August, we do so with grateful hearts as we reflect on the many blessings we experienced during July. We are thankful for all who participated in the worldwide special fast for religious freedom. It was inspiring to unite our faith with Saints around the world, expressing gratitude for the blessing of worshiping according to the dictates of our own conscience and praying that religious liberty will continue to be protected throughout the world.
We also express our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who participated in our Ohana Discovery Day. It was a wonderful opportunity for members, families, and friends to gather together, strengthen relationships, and discover ways we can continue to build the kingdom of God through service, learning, and fellowship. Thank you to all who volunteered, attended, and helped make the day a success. Your willingness to serve continues to strengthen our stake family.
August Theme - “Stand as Witnesses of God at All Times”
This month we focus on the covenant we have made to stand as disciples of Jesus Christ in every circumstance. King Benjamin's people covenanted to become "witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places" (Mosiah 18:9). The Savior also taught, "Ye are the light of the world" (Matthew 5:14), inviting us to let our light shine through our words, actions, and examples. Like Mormon, may each of us be able to declare, "I am a disciple of Jesus Christ" (3 Nephi 5:13).
As we seek to strengthen our discipleship this month, we invite you to prayerfully study and ponder the following General Conference messages:
"Following Christ" — President Dallin H. Oaks
"Do Your Part with All Your Heart" — Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf
"Taking on the Name of Jesus Christ" — Elder Dale G. Renlund
These inspired messages remind us that discipleship is more than what we believe. It is demonstrated by how we live, serve, love, and testify of Jesus Christ every day.
August is also an important month of preparation as our stake prepares for the new second-hour Sunday meeting schedule, which will begin on September 6. Over the coming weeks, ward leaders will provide additional information and instruction to help each member understand these inspired adjustments. We encourage everyone to approach these changes with faith, unity, and a willingness to learn. As we embrace the direction of the Lord through His prophets and local leaders, we know our worship experiences will continue to strengthen our testimonies and bless our families.
We invite you to prayerfully look for one opportunity each day to stand as a witness of Jesus Christ. This may be through a simple act of kindness, sharing your testimony, ministering to someone in need, inviting a friend to church, or courageously living your standards. We also invite you to prepare spiritually for the new second-hour schedule by praying for your ward leaders, studying the materials they provide, and coming with an open heart ready to receive the blessings the Lord has prepared.
As we faithfully accept these invitations, we promise that the Lord will strengthen your testimony, increase your capacity to influence others for good, and help your light shine more brightly. As we stand as witnesses of Jesus Christ, we become instruments in His hands to bless our families, our communities, and all those we meet.
Thank you for your continued faith, service, and love for the Savior. We are grateful to serve alongside each of you and pray that the Lord will continue to bless your homes with peace, joy, and His abiding presence.
